AC / PC. Definition One. Anatomically Correct vs Politically Correct
AC / PC Definition Two. Actual Chromosomes vs Polite Conversation
Much of the “advanced” or “developed” world has abandoned a belief in Bible reliability in a gradual process over the last century, based mostly on the claims of scientists, astronomers, physicists, and geologists who say they “know” the age of the earth and universe (and their estimate differs greatly from the origins described in the Bible).
Unfortunately, this attack on Biblical accuracy has had consequences on other aspects of society, many of those seemingly not related to the age of the earth discussion. If the Bible is not reliable on issues related to the age of the earth, then many begin to suspect it is also unreliable on many other issues, such as spiritual matters. If we cannot trust the Bible when it says God created the earth in six days, perhaps we cannot trust the Bible on marriage, or salvation, our eternal destiny, or how we live our lives.
The latest obvious example of this is the sex change debate. This has been increasing in prominence for at least 40 years (spanning approximately the same time frame as America’s rapid loss of faith in Biblical accuracy). It began with the sexual revolution, moved into the contentious debate over homosexuality, and progressed to the full LGBTQ agenda. If, as secular scientists suggest, the Bible is NOT dependable, then what shall we choose as our source of values? How shall we determine right from wrong? What could be wrong with indiscriminate, meaningless sex? Indeed, why should there be any limits whatever put on sexuality anywhere, anytime, with anyone, or anything? Why not live by the mantra, “If it feels good, do it!”
It appears right and wrong are now being determined by “political correctness”. But students of history will note that social norms and opinions are known to vacillate frequently. Different locales and different generations see the same things through different lenses. That which is acceptable to one generation is offensive to another. We learn, often far too late, that the consequences of “social experiments” may take more than a generation to manifest themselves.
We are just now beginning to see that the PC wave of sex change surgeries pushed by the Trans community and others has had little benefit, and a great deal of harm to society, and to the individuals involved. Walt Heyer, a Trans expert, wrote in The Public Discourse,”Bruce Jenner and Diane Sawyer could benefit from a history lesson. I know, because I suffered through “sex change” surgery and lived as a woman for eight years. The surgery fixed nothing—it only masked and exacerbated deeper psychological problems.” (1)
This “sex change” surgery (which I prefer to call by its more accurate description, “genital mutilation surgery”) has been performed on thousands of persons every year, with little or no guidelines, and faulty, ineffective followup. Walt Heyer also writes, “Doctors admit they do not know which children will remain gender dysphoric into adulthood, yet they condone gender identity change, socially and medically, for youth. This is child abuse. ” (2)
Heyer says “For those who look on from afar and see the explosion of young people playing the game of “select-a-gender” remember: 45 percent of them will attempt suicide. Why? Because this emerging group of young gender changers are suffering from emotional, psychological, or social identity discomfort far deeper than new pronouns can rectify.”(3) Something so drastic as a mutilating surgery should be considered an absolute last resort, not a thing to be offered to any middle school child who feels unpopular, or uncomfortable with their physical attributes.
But unfortunately, the public policy is NOT being based on good medicine, or good science. It is being determined by bullying those who make social policy decisions. Julian Vigo writes, “Over the past month, transgender advocates have attacked a Brown University researcher, Lisa Littman, for her article, “Rapid-onset gender dysphoria in adolescents and young adults: A study of parental reports” published in PLOS One. Littman, Assistant Professor of the Practice of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Brown, looked into the phenomenon of rapid-onset gender dysphoria (RGOD) examining how social media and online videos affect adolescents’ identification with a transgender identity.” (4) Vigo describes a pattern of bullying by Trans advocates that permeates the research community.
Speaking of his own journey, Heyer wrote, “It occurred to me after much self-reflection that asking a surgeon to modify my appearance through a series of cosmetic procedures was simply a socially acceptable means of self-mutilation and self-destruction. Taken to the extreme, self-destruction leads to suicide.” (5) He also noted, “Transgenders have high levels of mental-health problems such as depression, resulting in increased levels of self-injury and suicidal ideation (thoughts, attempts, and rates), finds a September study from the highly respected Nottingham Centre for Gender Dysphoria in the United Kingdom. The center reviewed 31 papers to arrive at that conclusion.“(6)
Social policies fluctuate. The Bible never changes. God never changes. God’s instructions are always for our good, not for our harm. 2 John 6, “And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.”
“This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, He made him in His own likeness. Male and female He created them, and He blessed them. And in the day they were created, He called them “man.” Genesis 5:1-2
